There was no other way to describe this event but Epic, as History was made with this first ever Jouvert road parade!
Indeed the Cayman Carnival Batabano Committee undertook the inaugural challenge and successfully hosted the pre-dawn Jouvert parade combined with its muddied and painted masqueraders, drinks truck, music truck, a breakfast styled beach cool down along with water truck vibes.
As the Jouvert masqueraders met head-on with daybreak they were continuously treated to sweet scintillating sounds of soca from a club like mobile truck with a cadre of local and international deejays.
Kudos must be poured out to the RCIP and the security teams for their services ensuring patrons an incident-free fun-filled morning.
The surprise element was the musical trip back to the starting point with deejays blasting out some familiar oldies to this massive crowd who did not want it to end and seem to only want lots more.
One thing is certain. This event is now here to stay. Expect a huge response next year as the word is out. JouvertJouvert…Here to stay..
