In response to the Coronavirus (COVID-19) global threat to the health and wellbeing of people living in and visiting the Cayman Islands, on March 13, 2020 the Cayman Islands Government made the decision to prioritise the care and protection of its people by prohibiting public meetings, processions, and festive ceremonies of over 50 people, until further notice.
As a result, the events, activities, and road parade associated with Cayman Carnival Batabano scheduled for May 2 - 10, 2020 have been postponed until the Fall 2020. A new date will be announced following discussions with the Ministry of Culture and the Cayman National Cultural Foundation.
The Batabano Committee and Batabano Mas Bands appreciate, and will continue to support, the efforts of the Cayman Islands Government and the wider Cayman Islands community to keep us all healthy and safe. Our thoughts are with our friends across the Caribbean and around the world who have already been affected by this Coronavirus pandemic.
If you have registered for, purchased tickets to attend, or otherwise pre-paid to participate in any Cayman Carnival Batabano events, please expect to hear from the event organisers directly.
We thank everyone for their continued support, and urge everyone to stay informed, act considerably and responsibly, and to take care of yourselves and each other. We also encourage our Cayman Islands community to refer to reliable news sources for guidance and the latest updates, especially via this official government website www.gov.ky/coronavirus.
